Backyard Vineyards, a division of Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits is a 15,000-case winery located in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. We are seeking an inspirational and energetic leader to join our team in the role of Manager, Winery Retail & Hospitality. This role is vital in the overall sales performance of the wine boutique and responsible for the daily operations, including generating revenue, budget planning and management, visitor experience, staffing, as well as managing and developing both an on and off-site events program.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
o Collaborate with Estate Manager to develop annual revenue targets and plans including wine, wine club, e-commerce, experience, and accessory sales, staffing and operating expenses.
o Identifies and pursues new sources of revenue (e.g. wine sales, events, accessory program, bus tour groups, tourism partners, etc).
Budget Development & Management
o Develop annual expense budgets to support the revenue targets and take corrective action as necessary to ensure objectives are met.
o Provide financial analyses as needed
Hospitality & Events
o Lead the development and execution of Hospitality and Event programming at wine boutique.
o Evaluate opportunities in conjunction with seasonal merchandiser calendar and budget
o Coordinate content with Marketing Team for social media support.
Inventory & Administration
o Manage retail administration including POS system, opening and closing processes
o Responsible for coordinating monthly inventory counts and reporting, including both wine products and accessories.
o Oversee all retail inventory transfers including retail store stock requests.
o Leads Retail & Hospitality recruitment and training.
o Provides ongoing coaching and feedback with performance reviews, both informal and formal.
o Participates on Health & Safety Committee.
Requirements & Qualifications
· Post-secondary diploma/degree with 5 plus years’ experience in retail management
· Wine industry experience considered an asset
· Understanding and comfortable with MS Office programs
· Demonstrated creativity and event execution
· Strong organization skills, ability to prioritize and adjust as needed
· Collaborative yet comfortable to work independently
· Good communications and presentation skills
· Must have own source of transportation
· Hours of work could vary, so must be flexible to work some evenings and weekends
